Olhão is a municipality and urban community in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. The population in 2011 was 45,396, in an area of 130.86 km² located near the regional capital Faro. Along with Faro, Loulé, and Tavira, Olhão forms a conurbation with the city of Faro, from the eastern and central Algarve.
All of the coastal littorals of the municipality belongs to the Nature Park of Ria Formosa, one of the more important humid zones in Europe, considered in 2004, by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a humid zone of world interest. In the municipality of Olhão, the island of Armona is included in the barrier islands of the Ria Formosa: this includes the beaches of Fuseta Mar and Armona Mar.

The Main Church was the first stone building in Olhão, built with contributions from fishermen between 1698 and 1715.

The spacious interior is covered by a barrel vault. In the main chapel, defined by an altarpiece and triumphal arch in gilded carving (18th century), you can appreciate the ceiling decorated with fresco and an image of Our Lady of the Rosary (17th century). In the side altars, also decorated with carved altarpieces, you can see some images, including the Crucified Lord and a Holy Apostle dating from the 17th century. XVIII. Vestments and pieces of goldsmithing make up the sacred treasure, completed by a nucleus of images from the 16th century. XVII and XVIII.

Near the church is the chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Aflitos, loved by the people of the sea
